If At First You Don't Succeed....... Try Another Light Bulb........

Thought I would tell some funny set story's, then give you all some more pics to see.

All throughout this production, it's been amazing to see how God has guided us through, around, and over obstacles, and this story is no exception. Last Thursday (I think....the days are all kinda running together now) we had to shoot a scene that was supposed to be a night scene, but we were shooting it during the day, so we had black garbage bags over all the windows and the skylight and the door-you name it, they covered it so that no light could get through. So then they had to re-create natural evening light with the set lights, and then make sure that theydidn't cast shadows on the walls, or that they were too dark or light. Well, they got everything set up just right and all us actors were in position, when someone said "Wait, there's a light reflecting in the mirror that we need to fix". But the only problem was-they couldn't figure out which light it was. So mom and Mrs. Jarmon sat down to talk while Ryan and Sarah tried every light they could get their hands on-some they even tried twice. Then, after about ten minutes, mom turned to Mrs. Jarmon and said "Kayla, I think we need to pray that they get this light fixed", and she agreed. So they both prayed that God would show Ryan & Sarah exactly where the faulty light was, and just how to fix it.

Well, then mom got up to go into their kitchen to get something, and she saw the mirror from an entirely different angle, and saw this light that no one had tried yet. She was about to say "Hey, have you tried this light yet?" when those who were searching suddenly turned around and said "Wait, lets try that light". Sure enough, it turned out to be the light, and it was promptly fixed, and filming went on. But it was just amazing how at the same instant mom saw the light, the others saw it too. It was just one of the many times that God has carried us through something that we were tearing our hair out over. He is so good.

This is Camille, who plays my younger sister Ruth. She is the sweetest little girl you have ever met. The day this picture was taken, Camille was supposed to not be feeling well (in the movie), so that's why she kinda has shadows under her eyes.

This is my "brother" Micah playing his guitar, which he does excellently. Micah plays my younger brother in the movie, and the neat thing about it is that Micah's real dad plays the dad in the movie, while my real mom plays my mom in the movie too!

This is Stephen, our script supervisor playing with Camille and her tiger Oreo
during the lighting story told above. Stephen's main job as Script Supervisor is paying attention to all the details of every scene so that when the Jarmons edit this thing, they won't have an object starting of in one hand this moment, then magically changing to the other hand the next moment. It's for a person who has a lot of patience, and who enjoys the details, although before this I always thought that Stephen was more of a big-picture kind of guy. He's a great friend and practical joker, and we DEFINITELY couldn't get along without him!

This is my great friend Cayla, Camille's older sister. Cayla is Assistant Script Supervisor, so she mainly gets the job of "clacking", what we call the job of marking up the slate with the correct scene and take numbers, then saying them and snapping the slate at the start of every scene. There are a lot of different names for the slate, but we mainly call it a clacker. Cayla also helps Stephen by writing down scene notes on a notepad, and taking pictures of the set. She's a great friend, and really the only other girl my age often on set, although I do have others that come and go.

This is Camille and Laurel. Laurel plays my other little sister, Sarah. She is one of the funnest girls I know, and she is doing a great job with her character. I think she had all her lines memorized even before I did! This is a "sisters" picture that I snapped of Camille and Laurel one day after wardrobe pic's. She's a great friend, and I'm so glad that God brought us together through this movie.

Well, that's the end of this post. Check back for more.
